The Puster Valley is probably one of the most popular valleys in the Alps. It extends between Brixen and Lienz over an area of 2,071 km². Most of the valley is situated in South Tyrol with part of it lying in East Tyrol, in Austria.
The Puster Valley, which is also known as the “green valley” because of its forests, meadows and national parks, is the most easterly valley in South Tyrol! At 700 to around 1,600 m above sea level, it stretches from Brixen to the border with East Tyrol. Mostly luscious meadows and dark forests characterize the Lower Puster Valley whereas the distinctive mountain peaks of the Sexten and Lienz Dolomites tower over the Upper Puster Valley. Here, the Drei Zinnen rise up into the sky. Nature-lovers and mountain climbers will be thrilled!
